We are all born into this world the same. Some of us are fortunate to be born into environments where a child will thrive and some (actually many) will not. This could be attributed to a lack of healthy food, clean water, dysfunctional families, economic or all of the aforementioned. In addition to those huge obstacles you have to add in the weight of systematic institutional racism which every person of color (P.O.C.) has endured from the day you are born. In spite of centuries of slavery and being treated like we are subhuman we have made strides to this point in time even as we still deal with many efforts to keep us down.
The struggle has been long and hard. In spite of the progress, for every step forward there are people and systems pushing back with everything they can. What we use to read about in the history books or have seen on the news is now being viewed daily on social media of what you optimistically hoped was a thing of the past. Only to be reminded of how little things have changed. Everything from the injustice in the courts, law enforcement and prejudicial killings of P.O.C. The powers that be keep on killing and subjecting P.O.C. to hate and different standards of acceptance and existence.
While we all try to make the most of our individual lives and avoid all the pitfalls that life has to offer, you cannot ignore the increase in the blatant and unjust treatment of P.O.C. It looks and feels like some of the horrific events of our past in 2020...in broad daylight. This is unacceptable!! In an effort to try and make a difference and stop being silent (though vocal in private), I have created this page and apparel line for those that support the struggle and the cause. There is right and wrong. Which side do you stand on?
Represent the Cause is setting out to create an apparel line which will support causes designed to help P.O.C. in ways we only can. A percentage of all proceeds will go to a fund to support local and national events and circumstances which require our support and assistance. I do not care what color you are. There is “right” and “wrong”. When you purchase anything from us you will be showing where you stand. If you stand with Represent the Cause, we will RISE to the challenge, REPRESENT the cause AND RESIST hate!!!
